We’re building Layer because we love entertainment and culture.
We grew up spending thousands of hours immersed in play and we know the delight that can be found with a push of the joystick. From a nail-bitingly close round of multiplayer Goldeneye, to the all out brawl of a Super Smash Bros session - we want to share this joy with the rest of the world.
We believe that the ‘IP’ (or *intellectual property*) of the culture around us, is key to attracting more diverse players into gaming. When games work with IP from popular artists, brands, or franchises they can create interactive experiences that deliver unrivalled fan engagement and player experiences.
IP stands for Intellectual Property. When we talk about IP we mean the brands, trademarks, characters, and content in the world around us. From famous film franchises like Star Wars, to consumer brands like Nike, or even individual actors and talent like Brad Pitt or Kim Kardashian - each of these is an example of ‘IP’.
Licensing is the process of getting the rights to use IP. Licensing historically has been a complex and time consuming process reserved for larger game publishers (think EA or Epic Games) that have teams that can work through the legal and contracting process necessary to license popular IP. We’re here to change that, and make licensing accessible for game developers and publishers of all kinds.
Layer is proud to work with several metaverse companies that use Layer to license IP for use in their platforms. Creating a compelling NFT often requires working with popular brands - and the licensing process is important to ensure you’ve got the appropriate rights to sell officially licensed NFTs.
Layer is a marketplace platform for IP licensing in the interactive entertainment industry. Layer matches IP profiles with game profiles based on commercial, audience, and objective criteria. Layer’s platform also simplifies the contracting and proposal process of licensing to make licensing easier for game creators.
No. In-game advertising is when advertisers pay for space in-games, either natively or through ad platforms which serve pop-ups or in-game videos.
